The T Pain Effect Melodyne

  1. I wanted to debunk this first, as some people come to me asking about the 'the Lil Durk Auto-Tune,' or perhaps that classic 'T-Pain Auto-Tune.' That effect is made from the same plugin—the outcome of the sound that you hear depends on how you set the settings within the program and the pitch of the incoming signal.
  2. Manufacturer site iZotope and T-Pain have teamed up on The T-Pain Effect, a collection of music making tools designed to empower everyone to make beats and record vocals featuring the distinctive sound of T-Pain himself.
TheT-pain

Melodyne is a BEAST in these areas! You can go crazy and manipulate the sounds (T-pain) effect, or you can use the tool subtly. I will show you how to use Melodyne in a natural, subtle way that does not interfere with the vocalist's performance. You can get a similar effect using Autotune, but the results are less than satisfactory. Use a very fast retune setting and fairly relaxed tracking in automatic mode; decide for yourself. If they are using Autotune for T-Pain then they're probably in graphical mode (very similar to Melodyne) and adding some other effects as well. Eli ends the series with a video on creative ways to use Melodyne and add spice to a drum loop using Melodyne’s Percussive algorithm as well as using Melodyne’s Audio to MIDI export function. Whether you’re new to Melodyne or you’re an existing user looking for more ways to use it in your songs and productions, don’t miss “Melodyne.

I've been there also, I think we all have. I've gotten excited over something in the past and my wallet or credit card was quite a few steps ahead of my brain and what I bought wasn't exactly what I thought I was buying. It happens.
Either way, if you decide later to upgrade to Melodyne Editor, you'll still have saved a little bit of cash overall and (given past history) there probably won't be another paid upgrade for S1 until version 3 so there should be more free goodies to come.
Thanks man.
P.S. In the meantime... just use the Editor demo and do your T-Pain thing until the demo expires? That will also give you a feel for if you want to actually upgrade or not.

I feel ripped off right now!

Not to be mean or anything.......But God I wish you would just go away!
Every post I have read from you has been filled with vitriol. The world doesn't owe you anything, PreSonus certainly doesn't and I am certain no one on this forum does either.
I am really getting fed up with Posts that start out PreSonus Bug this and Bug that and you Suck and on and on and on.
The quality of the membership has dropped dramatically (IMHO).
With that said...........I am outta here.

Hmmm, sounds more like you testdrove a 2009 blue Corvette (if there is such a thing), bought the car and drove home in a 2011 red Corvette, thinking it was a Chevrolet Sonic... But taking a closer look after the drive home, you discovered you actually do have the Corvette...

By all means help me with that.

Ok.......maybe not all of them
I guess I am the one that needs to apologize here....so, my apologies.
But I do stand by my opinion that there have been far too many posts from people complaining or bitching about this or that, before asking for help. And it seems most of the time, it is either user error, or user misunderstanding of the program or something not working as it did in THIS DAW or THAT DAW.
I love this forum and it has always had a wonderful spirit of help and camaraderie and I hate to see that being eroded.

Do this:
-Analyse your vocals with Melodyne.
-Inside Melodyne, select all the notes.
-Select the pitch tool.
-Double click all notes. This should make them lock to pitch.
-Now select all notes again.
-Select the pitch modulation tool.
-Double click all notes. This will take all pitch variation away.
This should do the trick for the T-Pain effect. If you want to make a GLaDOS type voice, add this extra steps after the above ones:
-Select all notes.
-Select the formant tool.
-Drag all formants 1 1/2 steps up.
Hope this helps.

This does not apply to Essentials though, that I can see. Controls are missing.

Ok... Hum some company will not receive money from me next year...

Maybe I'm nuts (...he says as he twiddles his own lips at random with his index finger while making gurgling noises...) ...
... but do people really not read product information before buying stuff? I saw this during the v1 cycle with Artist. People angrily ranting about it not loading 3rd party plugs in that case ... after they bought it... blaming the company for their own inability to do basic research before shelling out their hard earned dough.
Yeah... I'm crazy. Nobody does that.

With all due respect sir, I have read the thread and I don't see how I can do it. Are you talking about the guy who tells me to right click and voila? Well if I right click I still only get to choose from main tool, scroll tool and zoom tool.
You even admitted earlier in the thread that these features were not in Meolodyne Essential which is the version that came bundled with Studio One Professional and therefore the version I have.
So I stand by what I said. I drove home in a Sonic.
Sure it can be blamed on me, I should've read the small print.

Yeah... I'm crazy. Nobody does that.

Being new to software recording I must admit I knew nothing about the program Melodyne before trying out the trial that came with Studio One Producer. After trying it out and having fun with the auto-pitch effect(I had found a few ways to tweak it before I made this thread for some pro advice) I decided to go for the Studio One Professional edition because I didn't want to lose Melodyne after 20 something days. I download the Pro and voila, I get a stripped down version of the Melodyne which cannot do the things I was doing before.
Sure, the jokes on me and what not. I still think it's cheap.

I'm sorry, I misread, I though you had Melodyne Editor. But then you have testdriven a Sonic and where under the impression that is was actually the Corvette.
Sorry to say this, but it's not the small print even. This is straight from the Studio One website:
Studio One Professional includes a fully licensed copy of Melodyne Essential. Studio One Artist and Producer come with the Melodyne trial version. However, if you already own a copy of Melodyne Essential, Assistant, or Editor version 1.3 (a free upgrade from Celemony) or later, you can use it with Studio One Artist, Producer, or Professional and it will integrate perfectly, with all of the capability of your Melodyne version intact (including the Direct Note Access technology in Melodyne Editor).

It reads here it comes included with Essential. The link to Celemony above allows you to check the functionality of the various Melodyne versions.
PS I just checked the Melodyne download for Artist, that clearly reads Editor. Obviously when supplying a demo, it's most likely a demo of the most elaborate version. As they will want you to go for the full version of that when it comes to product marketing. PreSonus have been kind enough to even supply you with the Essential version of Melodyne if you go Pro. I understand the frustration, but doing a little more research might have proven to be useful in this case.
