There are two techniques that can be used to share files where the document creator has a higher version of InDesign: 1) Customers with CS6 (specifically 8.1.0) or above, with access to Creative Cloud services, can use the Simple Saveback service which will allow them to open documents created by someone using a higher version of InDesign.

Apparently the CS6 8.1.0 update is ONLY for Creative Cloud subscribers and NOT for those who have purchased perpetual licenses to CS6. Sorry.

    Sky1975 thank you for the update. Could you please send me your download logs from the Adobe Application Manager. You can find the logs at the following locations:
    On Windows, %temp%AdobeDownloads
    On Mac, ~/Library/Logs/Adobe/AdobeDownloads/
    The files we will want to collect is LBS.log, DLM Native.log and AdobeDownload_{SessionID which is a series of alphanumeric codes}.log. If you can please send the log files to [email protected] I can use this information to help identify where users are experiencing download failures so we can improve the download process.

    I reinstalled cs6 indesign.
    I installed 8.0.2 succesfully!

  • After installing and updating exchange manager 6.0.2.40 when I go to indesign exchange panel it says update is available, click that, it downloads and says update successful, restart indesign to take effect. When it installs it switches to extension manager and says update conflicts with other version install yes or no? Click yes, says succesfull and restart indesign, I restart indesign and same thing happens again and again.
    Photoshop and illustrator (CS6) panels work just fine. It's indesign that doesnt work.

    Tried updating, reinstalling exchange manager, adobe application manager is 6.2.112.0,
    tried several times on indesign and it just keeps going through the same update/restart loop.

    Why is Indesign excluded?

    I'm sure it will happen in time. Each product team sets its own priorities.
    One behind the scenes thing going on is that all the Adobe applications have been moving to 64-bit, and support for Cocoa APIs on the Macintosh is becoming required. Essentially this means that ALL the code of the Macintosh applications must be rewritten. This has happened for Photoshop and Illustrator, but it's being completed for InDesign. This takes a tremendous number of engineer hours to accomplish.

  • Due to problems within Interactive PDF's exported from Indesign I need to update my CS6 to a newer version - 8.01 or 8.02.

  • I'm trying to use the Folio Builder in InDesign CS6 but when I access the panel it says updates are required. I went to Help>Updates and it says : 'The update server is not responding. The server might be offline temporarily, or the Internet or firewall settings may be incorrect.' It's been doing this with all my Adobe programs for about a month. I've downloaded the 4 updates off the Adobe site manually for InDesign CS6 and still nothing has changed. I don't know what to change in the Internet/firewall settings or why I even have to. Also I did not download the actual programs off the Adobe site, I purchased a box set at a local store.
